Read time: 8 minutes | Wondering what it’s actually like to work with me on your website project? In this post, I walk you through my website design process, from strategy and structure to build and launch, so you know exactly what to expect.
Your Website Has a Process Behind It. Here’s Mine.
If you’ve ever thought…
“I know I need a better website… I just don’t know where to start and who to trust to translate my business.”
You’re not alone.
Most of the clients I work with aren’t lacking ideas.
They’re not lacking passion.
And they’re definitely not lacking expertise.
What they’re missing is a clear plan to put all the details together into a website that actually works.
Because here’s the truth most people don’t say out loud:
A website isn’t just about design.
It’s about clarity, direction, and building something that supports your business long after it launches.
That’s exactly why my process is the way it is.
It’s structured, intentional, and collaborative but still feels white-glove and guided from start to finish.
No guessing.
No overwhelm.
No “what do I do next?”
Just a clear path from idea → strategy → fully functioning website you’re proud to share.
Why My Website Design Process Looks Different
Before we get into the steps, I want to set the tone for how I approach every project.
Whether I’m working as your Showit website designer or building out a Shopify website for your products, the goal is always the same:
We create a website that highlights you, is aligned and performs.
That means:
- It reflects your brand clearly
- It speaks directly to your ideal client
- And it guides people toward taking action
Because a beautiful website that doesn’t convert?
It’s just decoration.
And that’s not what I’m here to build.
Step 1: We Start With a Conversation
Every single project starts the same way:
With me listening.
With us brainstorming.
Not jumping into design.
Not sending you a long checklist.
Not asking you to figure everything out on your own.
We start with a conversation where you tell me:
- About your business
- What your website needs to do
- Who you’re trying to attract
And sometimes, what’s not working right now.
This is where most of the clarity happens.
Because often, you already have most of what you need… it just hasn’t been pulled together in a strategic way yet.
This step allows me to take everything in your head and start shaping it into a plan.
Step 2: Strategy Before Design (Always)
I know it’s tempting to just jump straight into design.
Colors. Fonts. Layouts.
The “fun” part.
But here’s the thing…
without strategy, design doesn’t do much.
And I guide you through this so you understand without the overwhelm.
This is where we’ll map out:
- Your site structure (what pages you actually need)
- The journey (how visitors move through it)
- Your messaging (what needs to be said and where)
- Your brand perception (this is where we blend the visuals into the copy)
Because your website should guide someone naturally from:
“I just found you” → “I trust you” → “I’m ready to take the next step.”
This is especially important for service-based businesses and online stores alike.
Whether someone is:
- booking a service
- filling out an inquiry form
- or purchasing a product
…the journey should feel simple and intuitive.
This is what separates a strategic website design from one that just looks pretty.
Step 3: Building It Out (White-Glove Style)
Once the strategy is locked in, I move into the design phase.
This is where your website actually starts to come to life.
Depending on your project, I’m designing on:
- Showit (for service-based and content-driven businesses)
- Shopify (for e-commerce brands ready to grow)
Here’s what you can expect during this phase:
- Your design is fully customized to your brand
- Every page is built with both desktop and mobile in mind
- Your content is thoughtfully placed for clarity and conversion
- All the backend connections are handled (forms, links, integrations, etc.)
- White-glove service, you’re involved along the way, without the overwhelm
And one of the biggest things clients tell me?
👉 “I didn’t realize how much I didn’t have to think about.”
Because this part is guided.
You’re not left trying to figure out tech, layout decisions, or what goes where.
You’re involved in every stage, but without the overwhelm.
Step 4: Refinement, Testing, and Final Touches
Before your site ever goes live, we revise and refine.
This is where we:
- Review everything
- Make final adjustments
- Test functionality (forms, links, mobile responsiveness)
- Ensure everything flows the way it should
This step ensures your website isn’t just done…
It’s ready.
Step 5: Launch Day (And What Happens After)
Launch day isn’t chaotic.
It’s calm. Organized. And intentional.
By the time we go live:
- You feel confident navigating it
- And everything has already been tested
No surprises.
No scrambling.
No “wait, how do I edit this?”
Just a smooth transition into having a website that finally supports your business.
What It Feels Like to Work Together
If I had to describe my process in one sentence, it would be this:
👉 Guided, collaborative, and strategic without the stress.
You’re not:
- left to figure things out on your own
- buried in tech
- or overwhelmed with decisions
But you’re also not completely hands-off either.
This is a collaborative process where:
- Your vision and expertise matter
- My strategy and design experience guide the build
- And together, we create something that actually works
This process is a great fit if you:
- Are ready for a professional, strategic website
- Want something that feels aligned with your brand
- Don’t want to DIY everything but still want input
- Value a clear, organized process
- Are ready to invest in a website hub that supports growth
If this sounds like what you’ve been looking for, let’s talk.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before we connect. That’s what the first conversation is for. Whether you’re starting from scratch, outgrowing your current site, or just ready to finally have something that works, I’d love to hear about your business and see if we’re a good fit.
